A "repro" of a 15th-17th century Japanese "Katana", Nomino Heavy Industries' Historical Branch Division has taken the time and effort to decorate this example with gold inlays, engravings, as well as the "Date" clan crest (mon). These shorter nihontō superseded the older and larger "Tachi" because they were easier to carry and draw from, and gradually became the mainstream backup weapon for most Samurai.
