The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) is a socialist state spanning Eastern Europe and northern Asia. Formed after the Russian Revolution of 1917, it is a one-party state governed by the Communist Party, with Moscow as its capital. it is composed of 15 republics, the largest being Russia. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics now stands as a global superpower and the leading symbol of socialism and communism worldwide.
