Nearly at its highest point during the Napoleonic wars, the French Empire in 1810 dominated all of Europe. France had annexed the Benelux region and parts of what is now Italy. At this time, nearly all of mainland Europe was under the indirect control of the Emperor, including Spain and parts of Poland, while Austria, Prussia, Denmark and Norway all bid allegiance to the great French war machine.
