Depriving the Marcomanni and the Quadi of their right to cultivate the land and emigrate only made it inevitable that peace between Rome and the Germans would not be permanent. The year following Marcus Aurelius' triumph over Germania and Sarmatia, the Germans would again rebel with a much fiercer resistance than that of the prior campaigns. Called to the front again, Marcus Aurelius prepares for an offensive to now force the Germans into submitting to romanization.
