The Grand Duchy of Hesse was a Central European and German state from 1806 to 1918. The Grand Duchy was elevated in status as a client state and founding member of the Confederation of the Rhine in 1806 during the fallout of the Austerlitz Campaign and dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire. In 1808, Napoleon requested the presence of our troops for his endeavours in the Iberian Peninsular and so a contingent of Infantry and Artillery was sent to meet his expectations, at the same time the Austrians looked as if they were going to have another attempt at humbling the man now called the Master of Europe. This representation of the Grand Duchy is set within the years: 1808-1812
