In the year 1804, the Ottoman Empire entered the fight during the Second Coalition War, standing against Napoleon after his invasions of Egypt and Syria. Allied with Britain, the Ottomans launched strategic campaigns to defend their lands and reclaim power in the Mediterranean. In 1806, influenced by French diplomacy, the Ottomans declared war on Russia —pushing the Empire into the thick of the Napoleonic Wars.
