The Royal Armed Forces, known by their French acronym FAR, serve as the unified military organization of the Kingdom of Laos, re-established following the collapse of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in the early 21st century. Reviving the traditions of the pre-1975 FAR, units were reorganized to safeguard the sovereignty, stability, and constitutional order of the restored Kingdom.

Formed from elements of the former Lao People's Army and royalist expatriate forces, the FAR emphasizes national defense, territorial integrity, and internal security. Modernized through cooperation with regional partners and guided by the legacy of the original Royal Lao Armed Forces, the FAR stands as both a symbol of national revival and a guarantor of the Kingdom’s independence in the post-revolutionary era.
