The 1st United States Infantry was raised up in 1784 after congress called for a regiment of U.S. Regular Infantry to defend the western borders from native American attacks becoming the Legion of the United States. After U.S. Army reforms in 1804 the Legion was divided into 4 different regiments. The 1st U.S. Infantry fought during the Niagara Campaign at Queenston Heights, Thames River, Burning of the Canadian Capital, Chippawa, Lundy's Lane and Plattsburgh.
