The Hessian Army consisted of German soldiers hired by Britain to fight in the American Revolution. Trained and disciplined, they bolstered British forces. Their presence angered colonists, symbolized foreign tyranny, and influenced patriot propaganda, desertions, and key battles throughout the war, especially after defeats like Trenton shocked British leadership badly.
