DEACTIVATED-VETERAN UNIT The Sixth Army Group was a combined force of the 7th American Army and 1st French Army. Landing in Southern France, the 6th advanced through the Vosges Mountains, collapsed the Colmar Pocket, crossed the Rhine River, cracked the Siegfried Line, and advanced as far as Austria.
