대한민국 육군의 제 9보병사단은 6.25전쟁 당시 가장 치열했다고 봐도 무방한 백마고지 전투의 핵심부대로 해당 전투에서 부대의 명칭을 얻었습니다. 특이하게도 대한민국 육군 전체에서도 별로 없는 베트남 전쟁에 파병된 부대로 그곳에서도 맹활약을 하였습니다. 현재는 전방사단으로 최전방 수호를 임무를 맡고 있습니다. The 9th Infantry Division of the Republic of Korea Army was a key unit in the Battle of White Horse Hill, arguably the fiercest battle of the Korean War, and earned its name from that battle. Unusually, it was one of the few units deployed to the Vietnam War, a conflict that few other ROK Army units fought in, and it performed brilliantly there as well. Currently, it serves as a forward division, tasked with protecting the front lines.
