The SpaceX Starship Block 2 is currently the most powerful rocket in development. Boosted by the 33-engined Super Heavy booster and powered by three Sea-Level and three Vacuum Raptor engines, the Starship is capable of delivering up to 150 tons into Low Earth Orbit. This is a massive payload, compared to the 70 tons of the SLS Block 1 and the 141 tons of the Saturn 5. In addition, Starship will be able to carry these payloads while being reusable. Starship reuse is by far the most interesting part of this spacecraft. Starship reenters the atmosphere at mach 25, protected by its many thermal tiles. Then it enters a bellyflop, and flips itself upright at the last second. Finally, Starship is recovered by snatching it out of the air with giant chopsticks. As of 5/7/25, Starship Serial Number 35 is yet to fly, but is expected to fly on the ninth integrated flight test. The previous two flights have been failures.
