Gilded Ottoman/Mamluk Kolluc (Left)

The Kolluc or Bazuband was a late medieval eastern arm guard that was used by eastern empires such as the Ottomans, Mamluks, Timurids, Moghuls and Persian armies and other eastern armies primarily in western, central, and south Asia. In the late medieval period, armies began using plate armor instead of lamellar or plain chainmail which offered superior protection compared to lamellar and chainmail. The Kolluc were mostly used by elite cavalry such as the KapIkulu Sipahi and Mamalik AL-Khassakiyah and other elite heavy cavalry.
