Currents is the third studio album by the Australian musical project Tame Impala, released on 17 July 2015. Written, recorded, performed, and produced primarily by Kevin Parker. The album marked a stylistic shift from the project’s earlier psychedelic rock sound toward a more synth-driven, dance-oriented blend of psychedelic pop, synth-pop, disco, and R&B. Lyrically, Currents explores themes of personal transformation, emotional change, and romantic separation, while its artwork visually represents these ideas through the scientific phenomenon of vortex shedding.
